Ten years ago, in celebration of the 30
th anniversary of Earth Day, ETMA jointly with the Directory of
Education in Eastern Province organized a science fair at
Al-Rashed Mall in Al-Khobar for all elementary, intermediate
and high schools in Eastern Province under the name "Prince
Mohammed bin Fahd Competition for the Environment".
This year in celebrating the 40
th anniversary of
Earth Day, ETMA jointly with the Earth Science Department at
King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals are
organizing this workshop with the theme "Mangroves and
Coastal Precious Resources". The topics to be presented show
the importance of the matter to the public, fisheries,
governments and industry. Mangroves are highly regarded as
an essential entity necessary for preserving biodiversity in
coastal regions. The Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea are
blessed with mangroves, sea grasses and coral reefs, and
preserving them required a delicate balance between the
environment and modernization.
This workshop will provide sharing bright ideas and creative
solutions about facing the challenges of keeping progress
withought inflecting heavy damage to the environment.
It is a great honor to join the world in dedicating a full
day focusing on protecting the environment and saving the
Earth. The workshop will be held at Le Meridien, Al-Khobar
on the 21st of April 2010. Highly selected
speakers and respected professionals will bring a precious
opportunity to gain insight into mangroves and coastal
management.
